The Music Blog is me (attempting) to play the guitar, and posting as i progress. I will also share my interests in music, as well as some other stuff i choose to throw on my little blog.

Guitar Lesson
The Guitar Lesson yesterday was fun. We went over bass note picking for about five minutes, then started to have some fun. First, I noticed that he was wearing an Alice in Chains shirt, so we got talking on how Godsmack ripped off Alice in Chains. He also showed me some examples. Then we started to play distortion. He taught me how to switch E to D and E to A and so on. Switching isnt as easy as it looks. Out of habit, i keep striking the sixth string on the distortion E. And plus i have to get used to resting my hand on the bridge (it feels awkward). So i'll be doing some practice this week!
RE: Hershey Park
Hershey Park was awesome! I got on three rollercoasters, The Comet, The Wildcat, And The Roller Soaker. It was awesome! The Wildcat was by far the most intense ride i got on that day. It was so bumpy! And when you go on turns, you feel like you're going to flip over! The beggining of the ride was the most intense part, because you fall straight down, sideways!
FYI: I know i said i would tell u guys what music i listened to, but i didn't want to bring my iPod. Too much of a risk it would get stolen. Sorry Guys!.

Guitar
Just got finished practicing. Nothing very interesting to report. I went over bass note picking again, as well as practicing (a little) notes of distortion. Again, as i've said before, I think I have mastered the material Mr K gave to me for this week. Not much more intense practicing is needed this week, although tommorow I'm going to go over the neck of the guitar (notes). Better safe than sorry!

Lady GaGa
Have you ever noticed that Lady Gaga's songs all have the same pattern? For instince, all of her songs start out with a verse,(i'm not sure if you can call it singing, more talking) , then the catchy chorus, then another talking verse, then a low-pitched talking verse, sounding menacing. Then it keeps going in that pattern, until the song abruptly ends. Of course, there are some exceptions. Besides, i have nothing against Lady GaGa, i actually like her, but this is just something I noticed about her songs.
Peace=)

Swimming
A couple of days ago, i went swimming at a public pool for a while. There was a DJ and I walked up to him and said, well actually i screamed because the music was so loud,"Can you play all you need is love?!" I screamed. "By The Beatles?" He screamed back. "Yeah!" A bunch of other kids walked up to him and made requests. But i'm sure they were poppy singles. Anyway, the DJ must've played every other song in excistance, except mine. I can't say i was surprised, i asked the same thing last week with "No Reply" (There's an inside joke for all you Beatle-nuts) I can't come across why he wouldn't play the song, because he played a few Bosten songs and a Quiet Riot song,so it's not about the age. I dunno, maybe he has a grudge against The Beatles, or something, because he didn't seem to hesitate to play every song known to man by, Laday Gaga, Ke$ha,Justin Beiber and Beyonce. But i will not be silenced!! I will request that song every week if I have to! Meh, who am i kidding, i'll just keep my head underwater to drown out the terrible music=)
Guitar
Just got finished practicing. Nothing really noteworthy. Practiced bass note picking, and of course messed around a bit w\ distortion and the amp. Remember, I'm not really used to playing with an amp yet, or an electric guitar for that matter, so it's fun to experiment with all the different sounds. Hitting extreamly high notes isn't that bad either.
Annoying
You know what's annoying? Oh you don't? Well, i'll tell you then. When i'm talking to someone, and they ask me my favorite band(s) and i say The Beatles and Green Day. Then he\she says something along the lines of, "Everyone likes the beatles and green day." Yeah right. I'll bet the same "everybody" couldn't even name the band members of Green Day, or The Beatles! Of course "everybody" likes The Beatles and Green Day, but the same "everybody" can't name three albums by either music group mentioned above! And it can be reversed. When I ask someone their favorite band\artist , they say The Beatles. Of course i grin and say, "Oh really? What's your favorite song by them?" And they will say, Yellow Submarine, or Hey Jude. The reason they say those songs, is because those are the only songs that they hear on the radio. If i would ask their favorite Beatles album, they would either draw a blank, or say,"I only like their music, i don't pay attention to the albums much." The same goes for Green Day.

Guitar
I just finished practice. I think i have mastered bass note picking, or at least i mastered what Mr. K told me to do. It's wierd. The material always seems hard when I'm at a guitar lesson, but when i go home to practice it always seems easy. I dunno. Maybe i just feel more pressured at lessons, but when im practicing i'm sorta laid-back, you know? Like, for instance, if i make a mistake when im practicing, i just shrug it off and find out what i've done wrong.I am in control when i'm practicing. I can do whatever i want. Start over, stop, look at the book to get a closer look, stuff like that.
Anyhoo, like i said i have mastered (sort of, i still can be slow changing from chord to chord.) the material Mr K gave me. I have to admitt, bass note picking is fun to play. But it's not the sound that's fun, it's because i can do it with ease. =)

Guitar
Remember when i said my guitar lesson was more dull than i expected? Well when i was at guitar lessons, my teacher taught me something called bass-note picking. If you don't know what that is, i'll tell you. It's when you pick one of the bass strings (4, 5, or 6) before you play a chord. That being said, it gives the sound a very country\bluegrass sound. I hate country music. There, i said it. No offence to all the people out there who like country music, but i think that all the songs sound the same, or at least are similar.
Bass note picking is, semi-difficult but im never going to play country music anyway. Or am i? Eh probobly not. But my teacher said its a valuble skill to aquire, so i'll be practicing that for a week. Oh by the way, i used to have my dad's friend's guitar, an ovation, but my teacher (We'll call him Mr. K) said i was going to need an electric guitar, so my dad let me have his Stratocaster (spelling?) since he just got a new axe for his birthday.
I recently practiced guitar, and i noticed that the material Mr. K gave to me was incredibly hard. I hit one note per minute, struggling to keep up with the book. Then something caught my eye. Over in the right hand courner, was a diagram instructing how to play a Fm7 chord. I hadn't even bugun to learn this chord. Then i looked up to see i was on lesson forty. I wasn't even close to lesson forty. I chuckled to myself, and then i turned back to lesson 12. It was a relief to play something more my speed. =)

Imagine: John Lennon
I recently had the pleasure of watching a movie titled, Imagine: John Lennon, and it was a great documentary. It might be the best film made about John Lennon, simply because it is put in his own words. It starts in Liverpool, and the entire film is narrated by John, and that's the great part about it. If you haven't seen it yet, and you are interested in The Beatles, i strongly advise you to check this film out.
Author's Note: I know i know im not supposed to be a movie critic. It's just that i loved this movie so much, i just had to write about it.

Paranoral Activity
Im going to go astray from my usual writings to talk about a recent horror movie , Paranormal Activity. Everyone was saying how frightening the movie is, so (of course) i absolutly needed to see it. (Of course) My parents previewed it, and said wait for it to come out on DVD. I (of course) wanted to see it right away, but i had to wait. Anyhoo, i was surfing the channels one day, and i noticed that we had a free preview of a movie channel. Ex. HBO or Starz. As soon as i saw it was on uncut, i(of course) jumped to record. My dad and I soon huddled around the TV to witness the trembling fear that was Paranormal Activity. (Of course) The hype was better then the show, but it was still a very entertaining movie. It was nowhere near being the scariest movie ever, but it was creepy...to an extent. I(of course) was able to sleep with the lights off that night.
Author's note: I have now idea why i put so many (of courses) in this post.I guess it was just my creative juices flowing. But you know what they say. When life gives you lemons, you make grapejuice!!(or something along those lines.)

Favorite-ish songs of the moment
Currently im am really fond of a current song labled: Billionaire. It's just catchy and its a fun song to listen to when your bored or sad. I am also getting in an older song called Run Through the Jungle by CCR. I heard it in a movie i saw, and it sounded cool, so my dad told me to look it up, and i think it is an awesomely creative song. Of course, i listen to famous, and not so famous, rock n roll songs on a daily basis, such as Won't Get Fooled Again, Even Flow, American Pie, Symphony For the Devil, and so on and so forth.
All my life i had wanted to like music, but music didn't like me. That is true, untill i discovered rock and all its variations. I fell in Love.

Guitar Lesson
I have just returned from my guitar lesson and I have to say i am slightly disappionted. Not at the guitar teacher, but at myself. I forgot my book to practice, so we had to use my instructor's book. He said (jokingly) that the penalty for forgetting my book was to do another lesson out of the book. So, no distortion =(. But that won't keep me from messing around with distortion in my basement =). My friend came over to my house today, and when i showed him distortion he looked upon me as if i was son sort of Guitar God. "You should right your own song!" He said, but i just just replied,"Eh, im just a beginner." Then i handed the guitar to him, and showed him how easy it is to make cool sounds with the guitar. I also showed him some easy cords such as D and E.
Guitar
Im going to guitar practice tonight. It should be a fun lesson, since my teacher taught me how to use distortion on the guitar. I'll be sure to post how the lesson goes!!
